Nintendo Co., Ltd. began to provide its pay video service for Wii users on November 21.
The service “Theater no Ma (Theater in a living room)” is offered as one of the menus in the Wii-oriented comprehensive online entertainment service “Wii no Ma (Wii in a living room).”
Some of the videos purchased can be transferred from the Wii to the DSi and viewed on it.

Google Japan Inc. began to put on its TV commercial on November 20.
Google U.S. has launched a TV commercial on a trial basis before, but this is the first time for Google Japan to show up on a TV commercial.

Survival in digitization of TV in Japan (51) -- IPTV on NGN covers Fukuoka
NTT Plala Inc. and I-Cast, Inc. announced Thursday that it will begin to relay terrestrial digital TV broadcasts in some areas of Fukuoka Prefecture through their IPTV service Hikari TV on the NGN platform Flet's Hikari Next on December 8.
NTT Plala and I-Cast have already begun the relay offering in Osaka, Tokyo, Aichi, Kanagawa, Chiba, Saitama, Hyogo, Kyoto, and Hokkaido Prefectures so far.

Sharp is crafting Android-based cellphone
Sharp Corp. is now elaborating Android-based cellphones, company officials said on Tuesday.
The company plans to launch the cellphones as early as next year.
They will be customized to suit Japan's market demands.
Specifically, Sharp is expected to have FeliCa and carrier-proprietary Web features embedded in them.
Company officials declined to comment on which carriers it will supply the cellphones for.

Web virus is rampant
Computer antivirus companies such as Kaspersky Labs Japan warned Monday that more incidents are occurring where Web sites operating in Japan are tampered and trapped so that computers accessing them will be infected with a virus.
The trap, or Web virus, is a variant of Gumblar.
Gumblar a.k.a. GENO proliferated in May 2009.
The variant has been confirmed to be implanted in more than 1,250 Web sites operating in Japan, said the computer antivirus companies.

Books published in Japan get out of Google Book Search
The Authors Guild, an American advocate of published writers, filed the amended settlement of the battle over the Google Book Search project with the court on November 13.
The settlement says that the project will involve books published in the U.S., Australia, Canada, and the U.K.
The Google Book Search project is to database published books that are stored in major libraries around the world so that they can be searched through via the Internet.
