Survival in digitization of TV in Japan (32)--CATV keeps on going with analog TV?

The committee on information and telecommunications, one of the advisory panels to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), on June 22 compiled a draft of a report on the transition from analog to digital terrestrial television broadcasting due on July 24, 2011.

The draft says CATV stations should temporarily convert the digital TV airwaves to analog signals so that the subscribers can watch the relayed TV broadcasts on an analog TV set even after July 24, 2011, for several years.

The committee is expected to adopt the draft at its general meeting on June 25 and submit it to the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications.
