Asahi Newspaper takes over CNET Japan

The Asahi Shimbun Company, one of Japan's major newspaper publishers, announced Wednesday that it is planning to integrate CNET Networks Japan K.K. under its umbrella and take over the CNET Japan and ZDNet Japan operation on September 1.

Asahi Shimbun is expected to make a comprehensive licensing agreement with CBS Interactive on the takeover.
