SKY Perfect JSAT Corp.'s subsidiary Opticast Inc. announced on October 22 that it will begin to deploy its SKY Perfect TV! Hikari service in the Prefectures of Gifu, Mie, Wakayama in the last quarter of 2010.
Along with the deployment, NTT West Corp. will begin to provide its Flet's TV service in the three Prefectures.
The SKY Perfect TV! Hikari service is available under the condition of subscription to the Flet's TV service.

SIM card for iPhone 3G S (1) -- JCI's service
Japan Communications Inc. (JCI) launched a SIM card for SIM-lock-free iPhone 3G S on October 20.
The SIM card allows the iPhone 3G S to connect to NTT DoCoMo's 3G network.

Tap Snake steals your location information on Android
An application for Android-based gadgets has been verified to have an espionage function that collects the users' location information.
The application, Tap Snake, which is available from the Android Market, will send the collected information to remote sites.
The information is likely to be abused by cybergangs.

TBS On Demand Mobile has begun
Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS) Television, Inc. has launched a mobile site for on-demand video delivery.
Its mobile site TBS On Demand Mobile is an official one for NTT DoCoMo's i-mode service.
DoCoMo's users can watch some of TBS's TV programs via the i-appli on demand by paying fees.

Three more Android smartphones and one tablet PC from KDDI (1) -- IS series, SMT-i9100, and Skype on them
KDDI Corp. unveiled its three Android-based smartphones and one tablet PC and announced an alliance with Skype Limited on October 18.
The three smartphones are REGZA Phone IS04, IS05, and SIRIUSα IS06.
The tablet PC is called SMT-i9100.
And KDDI announced on October 18 that it had concluded a strategic comprehensive tie-up with Luxembourg-based Skype Limited.

The DoCoMo Market (i-mode) is DoCoMo's mobile site that deals in applications for i-mode, or i-appli.
Applications can be registered on the site by both corporate and individual developers without having to maintain their own servers.

The Hikigaeru is a service that allows the user to search the Web for information which is associated with the image he/she specifies by uploading it or entering its URL.
