Google's undersea fiber-optic cable between Japan and the U.S. landed on Japan

KDDI Corp. and NEC Corp. pulled up an undersea fiber-optic cable installed between Japan and the U.S. from the sea to the shore in front of the press in Chiba Prefecture, Japan on Sunday.

The cabling project Unity was launched by six companies including KDDI, Google, and four others in February 2008.

The cable installation has been conducted by NEC and U.S-based Tyco Telecommunications.
