KDDI streams music to mobiles (1) -- Music video and radio

KDDI Corp. announced on January 25 that it would begin to provide a music streaming service on January 26.

Its service LISMO WAVE allows users of KDDI's (au's) Android smartphones and compatible cellphones to receive music videos via Wi-Fi.

The users can also listen to every FM radio station via Wi-Fi or 3G wherever you are in Japan.

VoIP on Android using prefix 050 (2) -- bCharge

The “050 Mobile IP Phone” is the VoIP service on the mobile network that Japan Communications Inc. (JCI) will launch on January 28.

The service will use its dedicated Android application “bCharge” to charge the subscriber for her/his VoIP calls.

Car navigation system on iPhone (2) -- Android to be also navigated

The NAVIelite is the car navigation application that Aisin AW Co., Ltd. released for iPhone 3GS based on iOS 4.1 or later and iPhone 4 on January 17.

It can get traffic jam information by using the iPhone's communications features.

The user will be able to update the map data every two months.

Aisin AW is expected to launch a car navigation application for Android mobiles.

VoIP on Android using prefix 050 (1) -- Huawei's handset

Japan Communications Inc. (JCI) announced on January 20 that it will launch a VoIP service on the mobile network on January 28.

Its service “050 Mobile IP Phone” will allow the user to make and receive VoIP calls using the prefix 050.

The user is supposed to do it on Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd.'s Android smartphone IDEOS at the beginning.

Xperia to be multi-touch sensitive

NTT DoCoMo, Inc. announced on January 18 that it will release an upgrade file for its Xperia smartphone (SO-01B).

The upgrade file will enable the SO-01B to be multi-touch sensitive on some applications such as Office Suite.

DoCoMo said it would begin to deliver the file at or after 8pm on January 19.

Car navigation system on iPhone (1) -- Equivalent to car-mounted one

Aisin AW Co., Ltd. released a car navigation application for the iPhone on January 17.

Its application NAVIelite works on iPhone 3GS based on iOS 4.1 or later and iPhone 4.

The user can get it from the App Store for ¥2,600 until February 16.

On and after February 17, it will cost ¥3,800.

It will be available for one year from the day of purchase.

Aisin AW touts that the NAVIelite performs comparably to existing car-mounted navigation equipment.

DoCoMo's smartphone LYNX 3D can't make an emergency call

NTT DoCoMo, Inc. announced on January 13 that some of its LYNX 3D SH-03C smartphones don't connect to the emergency call numbers.

This is caused by a glitch of the smartphone's software.

The glitch disenables emergency call made from some of the LYNX 3D SH-03C smartphones that come with a green FOMA card.

The user can change her/his green FOMA card for a white one at a DoCoMo shop.
