More than one million units sold in the first three days--iPhone 3G S

Can you wait to get an iPhone 3G S smartphone?

Apple inc. said on June 22 that more than one million units of the iPhone 3G S sold in the first three days since it was launched on June 19 in the U.S.

In Japan, the iPhone 3G S will hit the shelves on June 26.

One-day use of Mobile WiMax

UQ Communications Inc.--poised to put its commercial Mobile WiMax service, UQ WiMAX, in production on July 1--announced on June 8 that it will begin to provide the one-day service plan, UQ 1Day, on October 1.

The plan will let you use its Mobile WiMax service for 24 hours at ¥600 without having to pay a registration fee, as well as its Wi-Fi service (UQ Wi-Fi).

Have you hesitated to switch to the iPhone 3G so far because the email address ending with @softbank.ne.jp or @*.vodafone.ne.jp is unavailable on it?

The iPhone 3G from Softbank Mobile (SBM) Corp. with iPhone OS 3.0 installed will allow you to use an email address ending with @softbank.ne.jp or @*.vodafone.ne.jp on it.

The new OS for the iPhone, iPhone OS 3.0, was released on June 18.

iPhone 3G S can be reserved at SBM dealers

Softbank Mobile (SBM) Corp. announced Tuesday that SBM dealers around Japan will begin to accept a reservation for the iPhone 3G S on June 18.

Those who have made the reservation can get it on or after June 26 and will be informed of the date by the dealer.

Nintendo DS connected to Wi-Fi at McDonald's

Nintendo Co., Ltd. will begin to provide its Wi-Fi service, Nintendo Zone, for the Nintendo DS series at McDonald's and Tsukuba Express stations on June 19.

The service will allow you to play a game online with people through Wi-Fi and download and use Nintendo's own content for free, without having to enter an ID or a password.

iPhone 3G S hits Japan June 26

Softbank Mobile (SBM) Corp. announced the prices of Apple's new iPhone, the iPhone 3G S, on Tuesday.

When you subscribe to SBM's “iPhone for everybody campaign” service that obliges you to continue the subscription for two years, you will pay ¥480 for the 16GB model or ¥960 for the 32GB model every month for 24 months.

That means an iPhone 3G S handset itself will in effect cost you ¥11,520 for the 16GB model or ¥23,040 for the 32GB model.

The iPhone 3G S is expected to hit the shelves of SBM dealers on June 26.

Emobile improves communications speed

Emobile Ltd. announced on Monday that it will launch a data communications service based on the HSPA+ (high speed packet access plus) system in early August this year.

The service will allow you to send/receive data faster than Emobile's existing one that is based on the HSPA (high speed packet access) system.
