WILLCOM CORE 3G gets available to individual users (1)--Due out in June

WILLCOM, Inc. announced Wednesday that it will release its high-speed data communications service WILLCOM CORE 3G, which has been available to its corporate users since March 9, for its individual ones on June 26.

The service, based on NTT DoCoMo Inc.'s 3G/HSDPA system, allows you to receive data on your PC at the maximum downlink speed of 7.2Mbps.

New lineup of cellphones from au by KDDI in summer of 2009 (3)--Hi-def camcorder [2]

The Mobile Hi-Vision CAM Wooo, one of KDDI's cellphones which are due out in Summer, is equipped with an HD camcorder.

KDDI touts it as the world's first cellphone that can take and store HD videos.

In addition, the Mobile Hi-Vision CAM Wooo has an HDMI terminal to show the stored videos on a larger screen of other devices like a flat panel TV.

New lineup of cellphones from au by KDDI in summer of 2009 (2)--Hi-def camcorder [1]

The new lineup of au's cellphones which will come on the market in summer includes one that features a high-resolution camcorder.

The cellphone, Mobile Hi-Vision CAM Wooo, will allow you to take a video at 30 frames per second while attaining the resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

NEC BIGLOBE to provide Mobile WiMAX service as MVNO

NEC BIGLOBE, Ltd. announced Monday that it will begin to provide its high-speed wireless communications service “BIGLOBE High-Speed Mobile WiMAX” on July 1 as an MVNO that relies on UQ Communications Inc.'s Mobile WiMAX infrastructure.

The service will be available to the individual and corporate members that use BIGLOBE as ISP, levying on them the initial cost of ¥2,835 and the monthly fee of ¥4,263.

Those who are not the members can utilize the Mobile WiMAX service by subscribing to the Basic Course service of BIGLOBE that will additionally cost ¥210 a month.

New lineup of cellphones from au by KDDI in summer of 2009 (1)--E-book reader

KDDI Corp. and Okinawa Cellular Telephone Company released on Monday a new lineup of their cellphones which will hit the shelves this summer.

One of the cellphones, which is called biblio, features an e-book reader.

The biblio has a 480 x 980-pixel LCD screen and sports a 7 GB of storage that allows for up to 5,000 books.

KDDI stops new subscriptions to CDMA 1X (2)--Promoting transition to WIN

Although KDDI Corp. and Okinawa Cellular Telephone Company have decided to discontinue receiving new subscription requests for their CDMA 1X services on August 9, they will continue doing for their CDMA 1X WIN services.

The subscribers to the CDMA 1X service totaled some 6.8 million, making up about 10% of the general subscription, as of April 2009.

KDDI and Okinawa Cellular are focusing their resources on their selected sectors.

KDDI stops new subscriptions to CDMA 1X (1)--A- and C-series cellphones

KDDI Corp. and Okinawa Cellular Telephone Company said on May 20 that they will discontinue receiving new subscription requests for their CDMA 1X services on August 9 this year.

The services are now available on their A- and C-series cellphones.
