The mobile website, Xmode@Station Information&Coupon, offers a variety of information on the station on your cellphone, including the location of bathrooms and coin lockers.

However, to get the information you will need to subscribe to the pay service that levies the monthly fee of ¥315.

Do you often get lost or feel difficult to find a bathroom at stations?

Ekitan (to explore stations) may help you find your way at or around a station.

Tokyo-based ekitan & Co., Ltd., which provides public transportation information services on the Internet, launched its website for cellphone on April 20.

The website, Xmode@Station Information&Coupon, shows a variety of information on the station on your cellphone, including the location of bathrooms, coin lockers, and kiosks.

Solar-powered cellphone comes out from au by KDDI (2)--Wait for 2 hours for 1-minute call

The solar-powered cellphone, manufactured by SHARP Corp., that KDDI Corp. and Okinawa Cellular Telephone Company will release in June has a solar panel embedded on it.

Charging it under sunshine for two hours will allow you to talk on it for one minute.

You can charge it under sunshine to power it up to 80% of the battery pack capacity.

Note that the sunshine-recharging system is absolutely complementary to the charging through the outlet.

Solar-powered cellphone comes out from au by KDDI (1)--Green strategy

You won't need to rush in a convenience store to get a temporary battery pack any more when your cellphone runs out of juice--provided it is then sunny.

KDDI Corp. and Okinawa Cellular Telephone Company announced Monday that they will launch a cellphone that can be recharged by sunshine in June.

Rakuten enters PHS market (2)--Benefit for the users

Rakuten Mobile for Business, the new PHS service to be launched by Rakuten, Inc. as MVNO, will be targeted at businesses only at first, but if it gets into gear Rakuten will offer it to consumers.

Rakuten has yet to announce when it will launch the service.

The service user will be charged ¥2,310 for the monthly fee.

To the user, free voice calls will be available that are destined for other users of the service, subscribers to the fixed phone service provided by FUSION Communications Corp., and those to WILLCOM, Inc.'s PHS service.

Rakuten enters PHS market (1)--Powerful MVNO?

Rakuten, Inc., Japan's online shopping mall giant, announced Wednesday that it will launch a PHS service for businesses in Japan.

The service, Rakuten Mobile for Business, will be provided through the PHS facilities that Rakuten leases from WILLCOM, Inc.

Tezuka's manga on iPhone/iPod touch

Do you like Astro Boy?

Osamu TEZUKA's manga including Astro Boy and Black Jack is available on iPhone/iPod touch for free for six months from April 13.

The manga can be downloaded from the App Store and will be issued every Tuesday.
