KDDI (au) to launch an HTC smartphone in 2009 (1)

KDDI Corp. announced Thursday that it will release a smartphone made by HTC Corp., a Taiwanese mobile phone manufacturer, in the spring of 2009.

The smartphone E30HT is based on the OS of Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional Edition.

It will be intended mainly for enterprises, but is expected to be available to consumers at the au dealers.

SBM gives enterprises the loan of iPhone 3G for free (1)

Masayosi SON, CEO of Softbank Corp./Softbank Mobile (SBM) Corp., announced Tuesday that SBM will give 1,500 enterprises the loan of iPhone 3G for free.

The loan period is three months.

For the three months, each of the enterprises can use up to five iPhone 3G handsets.

Is iPhone 3G so unpopular among enterprises that the company needs to offer such a complimentary deal?

iPhone 3G at new reduced minimum rate

Softbank Mobile (SBM) Corp. has reduced the minimum monthly charge for packet communications on its cellphone on August 27.

The charge was ¥1,695 until you receive/send 20,175 packets in the month.

Now it is ¥1,029 until you receive/send 12,250 packets in the month.

The reduced charge makes the iPhone 3G with the storage capacity of 8GB/16GB cost ¥3,284/¥3,764 in total a month at minimum.

The users' most favorite feature of the iPhone 3G is the web browsing.

And their unfavorite factor of it is the usage charge.

These evaluations are unveiled by a Japan-based research company according to its own survey.

More people use Yahoo! than Google on mobile phone in Japan

The Japan-based research company that conducted a survey on usage of mobile content this month also reported the popularity of mobile search engine in Japan on August 22.

According to the report, the percentage of the mobile users who utilize the Yahoo! Mobile is 63.1%.

On the other hand, the percentage of the mobile users who utilize the Google Mobile is 37.4%.

More people use Mobage-town than mixi on mobile phone

A Japan-based research company conducted a survey on usage of mobile content this month and reported the results on August 22.

One of the results shows that the percentage of the mobile users who know the mobile game/SNS site Mobage-town is 86.7%, which is the same as that of those who know the SNS site mixi.

However, the percentage of the mobile users who use the Mobage-town is 30.0%, which is higher than that of those who use the mixi (25.5%).

H.I.S. to sell air tickets on keitai

H.I.S. Co., Ltd., one of the leading travel agents in Japan, will launch a mobile website on which you can reserve and buy an air ticket this coming fall.

The company will be the first one in Japan that offers the service.
