KDDI and Sharp to launch e-wallet/one-seg smartphone (2) -- Email@ezweb.ne.jp available

The IS03 is an Android-based smartphone that KDDI au will launch in or after late November.

The services of emailing with the @ezweb.ne.jp domain, Decoration Mail, LISMO!, au one Navi Walk, and au one Market will be available from the launch day.

Skype speaks on Android handheld (2) -- Successfully tested ones

The application Skype for Android, which Luxembourg-based Skype Limited released on October 5 local time, had been confirmed for normal operation on some mobiles by that day.

The mobiles include HTC Desire, HTC Legend, Google Nexus One, Motorola Milestone XT720, and Motorola Milestone.

HTC Desire HD debuts

Softbank Mobile (SBM) Corp. unveiled its new Android HTC Desire on October 7.

The HTC Desire HD SoftBank 001HT is based on Android 2.2 and has a 4.3-inch screen with an 800 x 480 resolution.

It also has an 8-million-pixel camera and can record HD videos.

SBM will begin to accept preorders for the HTC Desire HD SoftBank 001HT on October 15 and put it on sale in or after early November.

Skype speaks on Android handheld (1) -- Now available outside of Japan and China

Luxembourg-based Skype Limited announced on October 5 local time that it had released its VoIP software for Android-based mobiles.

Its software Skype for Android adapts to Android OS 2.1 or above.

It is available from the Android Market for free in seventeen languages including English, German, Spanish, Korean, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.

However, as of the release day, in Japan and China, the Skype for Android application can't be downloaded from the Android Market.

KDDI and Sharp to launch e-wallet/one-seg smartphone (1) --Android 2.1

KDDI Corp. and Sharp Corp. announced on October 4 that they will put on sale a smartphone that has features of Osaifu-Keitai (mobile e-wallet) and one-seg.

Their smartphone IS03 is based on Android 2.1 OS.

It has a 3.5-inch multi-touch-sensitive VGA LCD double screen with a resolution of 960 x 640 pixels, a 9.57-million pixel CCD camera, and Flash Lite 4.0 built in.

iPhone/iPad can reach NAS at home (1) -- Buffalo provides applications

Buffalo Inc. released its applications that allow iPhone/iPad users to access Buffalo's NAS (network attached storage) products on September 24.

The application “WebAccess i” for the iPhone and the one “WebAccess i HD” for the iPad are available from the App Store for free.

By using the applications, iPhone/iPad users can save data on and play videos from Buffalo's NAS products “Link Station” and “Terrace Station” even while they are on the move.

ATOK for iPhone/iPod touch (2) -- It works with other applications

The memo pad application ATOK Pad for iPhone, which Justsystems Corp. has developed for Japanese language input on the iPhone and the iPod touch, can work with other application.

As of the launch day, September 22, 2010, the applications include email, SMS, Twitter, and Evernote.
