Sentry Japan will launch a fireproof and waterproof safe intended for keeping storage media, such as CD, DVD, and HDD, in early March.
The safe is equipped with two USB ports: one is on the front of the door and another on the back.
The two USB ports will allow you to connect a PC outside of the safe to a portable HDD inside while the safe is locked.
The safe costs ¥165,900 or ¥123,900, depending on the size.

ESTA has taken off
The Electronic System of Travel Authorization (ESTA) system began to operate on January 12, U.S. Time.
The system requires immigrations without visas to the U.S. from the countries, including Japan, that implement the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) to register online before they board a plane to the U.S.

JR Hokkaido's falsified website is threatening
Hokkaido Railway Company (JR Hokkaido) had its official Web site accessed illegally and tampered on November 12.
The Web site visitors may have been directed to the malicious site and had their PC infected with the virus.
The infection took place between November 12 and November 28.
JR Hokkaido has shut down its tampered site and is running the temporary Web page as of December 8.

Nintendo DS software pirates were arrested
The Association of Copyright for Computer Software (ACCS), based in Tokyo, Japan, said that two men and one woman were arrested on suspicion of breaching the Copyright Act on November 13.
The men and woman illegally copied some pieces of game software for the Nintendo DS to miniSD memory card and sold them on their own Web site with the device called R4 that made them workable on the game console.

Eee PC is infected with a virus
Asustek Computer Inc. announced Tuesday that its laptop on sale in Japan, Eee PC 701SD-X, is infected with a virus.
The virus sits in the external HDD of the laptop.
The company is replacing the HDD with the new one for the users.

Be careful for spoofed emails from fake authorities
The Information-Technology Promotion Agency, Japan (IPA) announced on May 2 that more and more spoofed emails are being sent from senders claiming to be public agencies such as police and official residence.
The emails have a malicious PDF file attached that exploits the vulnerability of Adobe Reader.
The IPA warns you that the sender's email address including “go.jp” which represents public agency is not always trustworthy.
