More than 25 million bloggers in Japan

There were about 26.95 million people blogging in Japan as of the end of January this year, according to the survey conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC).

The MIC says the bloggers generated a ¥16 billion market in FY2008.

Eye-Fi connects to photo/video sites via NTT Com's Wi-Fi for free

Eye-Fi Japan K.K. announced on June 25 that you can now use its SD memory card, the Eye-Fi Share, for digital camera to upload photos you take to photo sharing/storing sites or your PC via NTT Communications (NTT Com) Corp.'s Wi-Fi service for free.

The Wi-Fi service is called “HOTSPOT connect,” which is available around Japan.

The HOTSPOT connect service is available as well when you upload videos using Eye-Fi's SD memory card, the Eye-Fi Share Video, for camcorder.

Mainichi Newspapers is tweeting

The Mainichi Newspapers, one of the major newspaper publishers in Japan, has set up its official accounts on Twitter.

Mainichi operates one account for Japanese-language news and another account for English-language news.

Louis Vuitton Japan gets on Mobage-town

Louis Vuitton Japan (LVJ) began to deliver its own online game for cellphone on Mobage-town, Japan's mobile game/SNS site giant, on June 25.

The game, Precious Cargo, is intended to promote LVJ's new products and attract customers to its brick-and-mortar shop, LOUIS VUITTON /underground/, which is temporarily open in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, Japan.

Three-dimensional Google Earth

Google Japan Inc. announced on June 10 that it has launched 3-dimensional images on its location-based service Google Earth.

The images cover urban areas of Kobe, Kyoto, Osaka, and Tokyo as of the launch.

Video posted directly from camera to YouTube

How often do you post videos on YouTube?

Do you get irritated when you take a video, copy it from your camera to PC, and post it on YouTube?

All that irritation will be eliminated by the Eye-Fi memory card.

Eye-Fi Japan K.K launched its SDHC memory card Eye-Fi Share Video 4GB on April 27.

The SDHC card features a flash memory of 4 GB and Wi-Fi connectivity

You can insert the card into your camera or camcorder and automatically post a video you have just taken on a video sharing website like YouTube and Flickr via Wi-Fi.

Nico Nico Douga on iPhone

Niwango, inc. announced Monday that it has begun to provide its Nico Nico Douga Mobile service for iPhone.

To use the service, you will need the application software available for free, which allows you only to view videos on the website: you cannot post videos with it.
