eBay in Japanese opens

eBay Inc. began to provide its auction website in Japanese on April 1.

The website will offer knowledge required to place goods on show on the eBay for different parts of the world, telephone support, and seminars for edification of membership.

Google embosses subway lines on Maps

Would you like to view a subway map on a location service website like the Google Maps?

Google Japan Inc. added features that display the subway lines on the Google Maps on April 3.

The displayable ones include subway lines running in the cities, such as Sapporo, Sendai, Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe, and Fukuoka.

The features will allow you to click on a station to emboss the subway line(s) which the station is on.

A spark of hope between you and boyfriend or girlfriend?―kietai judges

KLab Inc., a Tokyo-based cellphone service development company, began to provide a service for cellphone that plays Cupid for you and your boyfriend or girlfriend on March 17.

The service Myaku-ari ! ? (Hopeful or Hopeless?), for free, measures how much your boyfriend or girlfriend likes you.

To use the service, you will need to forward to the Klab’s mobile website the email you received from him or her on your cellphone.

Then the site will analyze the wording and “emoji” used in the email, and the animated character will appear on your cellphone screen to show how much he or she likes you by gesture.

OIOI runs online community site on MySpace

Marui Co., Ltd., one of the major fashion department stores in Japan, launched its online community site on MySpace on February 20.

The site Tokyo Obsession is intended for a promotion to boost the sales at Shinjuku Marui One, Marui's new establishment that opened at Shinjuku in Tokyo, Japan on February 20.

Tokyo Obsession has every menu item shown in both English and Japanese, which may lead the viewers to the global EC site, Marui web channel International.

Yahoo! Japan will discontinue providing its video sharing service Yahoo! Video Cast on April 5, 2009.

The service is to terminate because it is unprofitable in the present system, company officials say.

Blow out candles on birthday cake over the Net (1)―Pizza Hut's trial

Pizza Hut began a one-year sales campaign in Japan on January 9 that combines the Web site, telephone, and voice recognition technologies.

The campaign lets you play a game as follows: make a telephone call to the number indicated on the Web site and breathe on the microphone of your telephone to blow out the candles on the birthday cake pictured on the site.
