Acecook collaborates with mixi to create ramen

Acecook Co., Ltd., one of Japan's leading instant noodle manufacturers, announced on November 12 that it will create a new pot noodle in collaboration with the online community in the mixi, Japan's largest Social Networking Service (SNS).

The pot noodle is expected to come on the market in December.

This is their second time to work together to develop that kind of project.

Nico Nico Douga is attracting more or more people

Dwango Co., Ltd. said on Thursday the number of registrants in Nico Nico Douga, the video sharing website run by its subsidiary Niwango, inc., has exceeded 10 million.

For Nico Nico Douga to exceed the number, it took 23 months from the launch; for mixi 39 months, for Mobage-town 26 months.

Twitter allows for community activities

The Japanese version of Twitter now has features for community―Twicco.

A community can be created by any Twitter member.

The community will be where the members hang out online who have a common interest.

The Twicco service is intended to make levels of entry lower for the beginners.

Amazon Japan opens a grocery

Amazon Japan said Wednesday that it has opened a grocery on its shopping website.

The grocery now deals in processed foods, confectionery, fresh food, frozen food, water, coffee, and liquor―amounting more than 20 thousand items.

Filter out spam blogs

One of the Net companies in Japan, livedoor Co., Ltd., announced on October 10 that it has improved its blog search service.

The company claims that the service will filter out 90% of spam blogs that are infesting the Internet.

Spam blogs account for 12% of the total topping 16.9 million in Japan, the company quotes the survey result reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC).

Railroad map service for iPhone/iPod touch (2)―Catch the last train

The railroad map service launched by Yahoo! Japan on the AppStore on October 3 includes some search features.

The features let you know the train timetable of a certain station so that you can catch the last train, for example.

Railroad map service for iPhone/iPod touch (1)―Yahoo!'s offering

Yahoo! Japan launched a railroad map service on the AppStore on October 3.

The service is available for free.
