LG to launch Android tablet PC

South Korean LG Electronics Inc. announced on July 5, U.S. Time, that it will launch its Android-based tablet computer by the last quarter of 2010.

LG has yet to specify the price and technical details of the computer.

Opera works faster

Norwegian company Opera Software released its latest Web browser Opera 10.60 on July 1.

The browser features the optimized JavaScript engine, which works 1.5 or more times faster than the former version Opera 10.54.

Glasses-free 3D Nintendo DS

Nintendo Co., Ltd. released its 3D portable game console at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2010 in Los Angeles on June 15, U.S. Time.

The console Nintendo 3DS will allow the user to play 3D games without any glasses.

It is expected to hit the market within FY2010.

Panasonic to launch tablet PC (2)

Panasonic Corp.'s tablet PC CF-C1, which is to launch on June 25, will come with a street price of around ¥200,000.

Panasonic intends to sell it to corporate users principally and ship 200,000 units a year in three years.

Panasonic Corp. announced on June 6 that it will launch a tablet PC on June 25.

Its tablet PC CF-C1 it the fifth brand of Let's note series.

The LCD screen can be revolved so that it can work as a tablet PC.

3D touch-sensitive LCD

Would you like to watch a 3D video on your potable device?

Sharp Corp. announced on April 2 that it has created a 3D 3.4-inch LCD.

The LCD allows you to view 3D images without special glasses for it.

It can be switched over between 3D mode and 2D mode, and is touch-sensitive.

SBM doubles base stations

Masayoshi Son, chairman & CEO of Softbank Mobile (SBM) Corp., announced on March 28 that SBM is going to double the number its cellphone base stations (BSs) by the end of FY2010.

SBM now has about 60,000 BSs around Japan.

It will make use of PHS base stations installed by Willcom Inc., Japan's sole PHS carrier, which is in the throes of corporate rehabilitation with assistance provided by Softbank.
