Jupiter Telecommunications Co., Ltd. (J:COM), Japan's CATV MSO (multiple system operator) giant, announced Wednesday that it will descramble its 11 optional pay channels out of 21 to provide them for subscribers to the services J:COM TV Digital and J:COM TV Digital Compact from 9:00am to 9:00pm on April 4.
J:COM aims to get its optional pay channels more popular among the subscribers.
It is also expected to descramble the same 11 channels on June 6, September 5, and December 5 this year.

LG to launch strategic 3D display
LG Electronics Inc. held a media briefing about its business strategies on February 18.

Willcom files for protection under the bankruptcy law
Willcom Inc., Japan's sole PHS carrier with its own network platform, has decided to seek protection from its creditors under a law designed for troubled financial institutions.

Each of the screens shows different content.

Car navigation systems to be based on Android
The Open Embedded Software Foundation (OESF), aggregate corporation that aims to build embedded platforms using Android in Japan, announced on February 5 that it will design car navigation systems based on Android.
The OESF has established a working group that is committed to defining an API (application programming interface) required for car navigation systems in common.
The working group, Automotive Working Group, has already prepared a prototype car navigation device to evaluate the API so that an application works among car navigation systems from different manufactures.
