Yahoo! Japan to acquire Softbank IDC Solutions

Yahoo Japan Corp. announced Thursday that it has decided to take a 100% stake in Softbank IDC Solutions Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Softbank Corp.

Yahoo! Japan now operates Net businesses without having its own data centers, which prevents it from leveraging U.S. Yahoo! Inc.'s proprietary technologies to efficiently run a crowd of servers.

By owning data centers by itself, Yahoo! Japan is planning to drive its cloud computing business more than ever before.
