Google Japan Inc.'s CEO said Monday that the company is being more eager to adjust their services to the needs and preferences of Japan's users than ever before.
Google Japan will emerge from the dependence on its U.S. parent company and improve its businesses according to Japan's market, the CEO said at the press conference.

Shinkansen were out of operation for three hours
The Tohoku/Joetsu/Yamagata and Akita Shinkansen got out of service at the time of the first train on the morning of Monday.
The service recovered about three hours later.
The three hours were needed to restore the data network system that controls the operation of the Shinkansen bullet trains.

Forum Nokia to be closed for Japan
Nokia Japan announced on December 22 that it will stop operation for the Forum Nokia, the Web site that supports engineers developing software for Nokia's devices.
Nokia is expected to move the operation to Singapore.

Panasonic and SANYO to merge
Panasonic Corp. and SANYO Electric Co., Ltd. announced on December 19 that they will form a business/capital alliance.
Panasonic is going to own a majority of stock in SANYO by TOB.
SANYO's globally-competitive secondary/solar cell business is quite attractive to Pnasonic.

SBM reduces pages of instruction manual
Softbank Mobile (SBM) Corp. announced Tuesday that it will begin to reduce pages of the cellphone instruction manuals by two thirds in December.
SBM intends to reduce the amount of paper used in its business as part of environmental protection initiatives.
In the page-reduced manual, the information such as instructions and appendixes is summarized.
The manual as chock-full of information as ever will be downloadable from SBM's Web site for free and/or available in hardcopy for ¥1,050 plus postage.

DoCoMo teams up with India's telco
NTT DoCoMo Inc. announced Wednesday that its plans are under way to form a capital alliance with Tata Sons Limited, the holding company of the Tata Group that is based in India.
DoCoMo will take a 26% stake in Tata Teleservices Limited, the telecom company under Tata Sons.
Tata Teleservices settles for 6th place in terms of the market share in India, but has an advantage of the brand awareness backed by India's biggest industrial conglomerate and is proud of an average annual increase of 187% in the number of the subscribers.
