Panasonic Corp. announced on November 7 that it will render SANYO Electric Co., Ltd. its owned subsidiary.
Panasonic and SANYO held a press conference together on the day and unveiled the plans to generate the biggest synergy by combining them.

Digital SLR camera with video shooting features
NIKON CORPORATION announced on August 27 that it will release a digital SLR camera that can store moving pictures this month.
The company touts that the camera D90 is the world's first one that has video shooting features as digital SLR.
It can record sound as well as video.

iPod nano overheats/burns out
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) announced Tuesday that some accidents of overheating/burnout have happened on the first generation of the iPod nano which was sold between September 2005 and September 2006 in Japan.
The iPod nano types that may overheat or burn out are MA004J/A, MA005J/A, MA099J/A, and MA107J/A.
Apple Japan says for the users it will deal with the accidents individually after they happen on the types.

The Ting Tings hit Apple Store in Tokyo, Japan
A UK duo The Ting Tings did a live performance at the Apple Store Shibuya in Tokyo, Japan on August 11th.
On 9th in Osaka and on 10th in Tokyo, they took part in the Summer Sonic 08.
At the Apple Store, they showed three songs including “Shut Up And Let Me Go” that is used in the CM of iPod + iTunes.

Price of NEC's PC to increase
NEC Corp. announced Monday that it is planning to increase the price for its consumer-oriented PCs.
The price increase may begin this coming fall due to the cost hike for the materials and the transportation, company officials said.

Is DST system beneficial to Japan?
I am opposed to the introduction of the DST (daylight saving time) system to Japan.
