Avaya Japan to launch Android-based tablet terminal for video conference (2) -- Intuitive UI

Avaya Japan's Avaya Desktop Video Device, an Android-based tablet terminal for video conference that will begin to ship on November 30, has adopted a new UI (user interface) called Avaya Flare Experience.

The UI integrates communications features including video, voice, and IM (instant messaging) into one entity.

Avaya Japan to launch Android-based tablet terminal for video conference (1) -- Touch-sensitive

Avaya Japan released an Android-based tablet terminal for video conference on September 16.

Its terminal Avaya Desktop Video Device has an 11.6-inch multi-touch-sensitive screen and an autofocus HD video camera.

It will begin to ship on November 30.

VAIO to display 3D images (3) -- Cyber-shot images can be shown

The prototype of a 3D VAIO that was exhibited at the Sony Dealer Convention 2010 showed 3D images shot by Sony's digital camera Cyber-shot.

The 3D VAIO will also display 3D images extracted from digital broadcast programs and Blu-ray disc content.

VAIO to display 3D images (2) -- Glasses are required

The prototype of a 3D VAIO was exhibited at the Sony Dealer Convention 2010

Sony is expected to put the 3D VAIO on Japan's market in spring in 2011.

It has a 16.4-inch LCD screen, based on the VAIO F series PC.

The 3D display scheme employs a frame sequential system in which the image for the right eye and the image for the left eye are alternatively shown at the frequency of 120 Hz.

The scheme requires a viewer to wear special glasses that synchronize with the display's switch-over cycle.

The display has a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels.

Toy chopper is controlled by iPhone

Paris, France-based Parrot SA announced on September 9 that it will launch a toy chopper that can be remote-controlled by the iPhone/iPad/iPod in Japan on September 16.

The chopper AR.Drone is Wi-Fi-enabled and the application will be available from the App Store.

Sony Corp. announced on September 8 that it will launch a 3D-enabled VAIO in spring in 2011.

A prototype of the VAIO was exhibited at the Sony Dealer Convention 2010.

Toshiba to launch an iPad-like tablet PC (2) -- USB does matter

Toshiba's tablet PC “FOLIO 100,” which will begin to sell in Europe in October 2010, looks like Apple's iPad.

However, in addition to its two models of Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + 3G, the FOLIO 100 features USB connection as well as Flash compatibility.

The FOLIO 100 measures 281 x 181 x 14 mm and weighs 760 grams.

It also has an HDMI interface, an SD card slot, and a USB 2.0 port.

Further more, it can connect to Bluetooth devices.

The 10.1-inch multitouch-sensitive screen has a 1024 x 600 resolution.
