ASUSTeK showcases its latest products

Taiwanese ASUSTeK Computer Inc. is running its showroom for consumers in Shibuya, Tokyo from December 18 through December 23.

Visitors to the showroom ASUS Stylebook Lounge can try its products such as ASUS All-in-one PC ET2400XVT, UL20FT, and EeeBox PC EB1501P.

Emobile releases Android handset, but mobile router? (3) -- W-CDMA, GSM, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi

The Pocket WiFi S (S31HW), a mobile phone handset based on Android 2.2 that Emobile Ltd. will put on sale in mid-January of 2011, works on W-CDMA (1.7GHz and 2GHz band) and GSM networks and is global-roaming enabled.

It also supports wireless connections of Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth.

Emobile releases Android handset, but mobile router? (2) -- Touch-sensitive

The Pocket WiFi S (S31HW) is a mobile phone handset based on Android 2.2 that Emobile Ltd. will put on sale in mid-January of 2011, though it refers to as a mobile Wi-Fi router.

The Pocket WiFi S (S31HW) comes with a Qualcomm MSM7225 processor and 256 megabytes of memory.

It has a 2.8-inch capacitive touch-sensitive screen with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels (QVGA).

The handset is manufactured by Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd.

Survival in digitization of TV in Japan (74) -- Tokyo Sky Tree begins to operate in January 2013

The Kanto Bureau of Telecommunications, a division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), announced on December 17 that it has given NHK (Nippon Hoso Kyokai: Japan Broadcasting Corp.) and the five key commercial TV stations in Tokyo a permission to move their broadcasting equipment from the existing Tokyo Tower to the Tokyo Sky Tree.

The Tokyo Sky Tree is expected to begin to broadcast TV programs in January 2013.

Yahoo! Japan provides comics download service

Yahoo Japan Corp. announced on December 16 that it will begin to provide a comics download service in the spring of 2011.

Yahoo Japan is expected to demonstrate the service by using the iPhone and the iPad at the Makuhari Messe on 18th and 19th of December.

Emobile releases Android handset, but mobile router? (1) -- 19,800-yen Android 2.2

Emobile Ltd. announced a mobile phone handset based on Android 2.2 on December 14.

Its handset Pocket WiFi S (S31HW) features a tethering functionality, which makes it available as a Wi-Fi router.

It will go on sale at a price of ¥19,800 in mid-January of 2011.
